Hello! First, let me thank you for stopping by site.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Raechel. I began showing an interest in photography at a young age. I remember in elementary school receiving my first Nikon film (yes, film!) point-and-shoot camera as a Christmas gift. I’m not sure how much money my parents spent purchasing film and processing fees, but I do remember taking photo after photo after photo of flowers, cows, and our pet cats. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if I still had all those negatives in storage.

As my photography interest grew, so did the size of my camera and added accessories. I was shooting film until early high school when digital SLR cameras were becoming more consumer friendly. By then I was somewhat self-taught. I had a vague understanding of shutter, f-stop, ISO, etc. related to one another. It wasn’t until I took Photography I and II my senior year that things began to make sense.

I knew I wanted to study photography in college, but Florida State University didn’t offer a photography major. I majored in the next best thing, Studio Art, and took every photography course offered. During my course study I learned fields of photography I enjoy more than others, nature and wildlife, landscapes of the variety; pretty much everyday surroundings most of the human population takes for granted in today’s ‘hurry up and wait’ society.

In 2008 I graduated from Florida State University (yay!), but then had to find a job, which wasn’t so easy at the time.... Finally, 2-3 months after graduating I managed to find something that involved photography. Photography Sales at the Florida Aquarium. In the span of the 2 years I worked there my boss introduced me to her younger son. I didn’t know it at the time, but he was to become my future fiancee.

I have since left the Aquarium to pursue a career in teaching. Now before you start thinking I gave up on my photography, I can reassure you that I did not. In all honesty, the various photography jobs I acquired after the Aquarium just wasn’t working for me. I wanted something more; so why not teach Art!? And that’s exactly what I started doing.

I am currently an elementary art teacher at two schools in the Tampa Bay area. The ability to “leave” school at 3:30 p.m. and weekends off give me the opportunity to photograph the things I want. It also gives me the time to showcase my photography at various art festivals around the Bay area.

Though I display wildlife and landscapes of sorts, that by no means limits to what I can do. I have also photographed weddings, engagement sessions, and little ones’ first birthdays just to name a few. If you have any questions about sessions, please, don’t hesitate to ask! And if you’re not interested in my photography services, keep in mind I offer my matting services (even if you want me to mat another photographer’s work).
